Programming bacteria to detect and treat diseases

Our group works in the field of synthetic biology, which aims at engineering new biological systems and functions.  One of our research areas is the engineering of programmable bacterial biosensors. I will present our efforts to design a platform of synthetic receptors allowing bacteria to respond to new ligands of interest, as well as their application in the field of medical diagnostics. The use of programmable bacteria for novel therapeutic approaches will also be discussed.
